The prisoner was broadcast 1967, becoming one of the most famous programmes in the world. It even gathered a cult following and is still enjoyed today. They even remade it in 2009 with Ian Mckellen playing the antagonist.
This famous series was shot on location at Porthmerion, North Wales. Porthmerion was constructed between 1925 and 1975 by Sir Clough Williams Ellis who had fallen in love with Italian architecture. This village is located within the community of Penrhyndeudraeth, on the estuary of the River Dwyryd. This is 2 miles Southeast of the town of Porthmadog.
The grounds are vast and expansive, with woodland, wild-botanic garden, beaches, caves, lakes, ponds, a castle, pools and much more. The village is now used for tourism purposes. Then one day, someone decided that this awesome environment would be the perfect location for a music festival. Over the years, Number 6 has played host to awesome acts, including Catfish and the Bottlemen, Grace Jones, Primal Scream, Alt J, and now welcoming Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, Super Furry Animals, and Bastille who are set to take this year by storm
The festival has been described as the perfect one for those who would appreciate a more relaxed atmosphere. However, this doesn’t exclude everyone else; there are a multitude of stages available at Number 6, all boasting their own genres and prospective audiences. Whether you’re into rock, folk, psychedelic, hip-hop, funk, house, drum and bass, male voice choir, there are simply loads of things to have a go at.
The fest takes place early September, which is right at the end of summer. Enjoy the last of your summer days at Number 6. The dates are Thursday 1st, Friday 2nd, Thursday 3rd and Sunday 4th.
