Whether you’re a user of LED Strip Lights, LED Rope Lights, or just even keeping an eye on the industry at large, you’ll likely have heard of LED Drivers. Essentially, about the same thing as a ballast for fluorescent lighting, the LED Driver’s task is to convert AC Supply voltage to DC, and drive this converted current to your LED source.
Whereas normally with CFL and fluorescent lights, the ballast is based upon the sort of lamp that you’re working with, the LED market doesn’t really alter from that. Where improvements are made is that should the driver fail, if the light is serviceable and still viable (Fun fact: With LED Lighting the answer is more than likely perfectly fine!) where with traditional lighting, being up a certain creek without a paddle is more than likely.
LED drivers are constantly advancing, as well. Whereas production, let alone research and development is slow borderline ceasing on the more traditional types of lighting, LED research and development is absolutely flourishing. The same fact means that LED lighting is astoundingly cheap nowadays, most LED bulbs even from household name manufacturers are only a few pounds more expensive than wasteful traditional lighting.
The fact that the technology is constantly being improved as well means that manufacturers are more tuned in than ever to efficiency increases, variations in size and wattage, and increased connectivity options. For instance, from 2015, more drivers than ever are tuneable. New technologies are delivering multi channel tunable drivers for LED Lighting that allows colour to be adjusted almost infinitely to deliver the perfect colour temperature, and warmth.
The days of stark, soulless LED lighting are over, and there’s no better reason to go LED now. There are a number of reputable suppliers such as North Wales based LED Illuminations that can assist you with all manner of queries, from the second you inquire about an order to fitting.
