Llandudno is getting more and more attention throughout the world on both a domestic and an international basis, and what could be better than spending an afternoon walking the beautiful promenade of Llandudno? This beautiful seaside town in North Wales has won accolade after accolade, including the top tourist resort in the UK from TripAdvisor in 2016 and also a place in LonelyPlanet’s top 10 places in the world to visit, and this pretty seaside town keeps going from strength to strength.
This is part and thanks to the series of pretty seafront hotels in Llandudno which grace the seafront, including the iconic St Tudno Hotel which takes it’s name from the town’s patron saint, Saint Tudno.
For those unaware, Saint Tudno is said to have been one of the seven sons of Seithenyn, who was responsible for the sea defences of Cantre’r Gwaelod (the Lowland Hundred) in Maes Gwyddno. One night, Seithenyn was said to have neglected the sea defences due to his own drunkenness, and due to this one night of negligence, the sea took Cantre’r Gwaelod. According to Welsh folklore, Saint Tudno wished to atone for the incompetence of his father and as such, studied at Saint Dunawd’s college in the monastery of Bangor Iscoed – and then sought his way to Llandudno in order to live a religious and sheltered life of a hermit in the coastal caves.
Of course, Saint Tudno didn’t exactly have a great time at first. For your stay in Llandudno, you’ll be set up much more comfortably. The St Tudno Seafront Hotel in Llandudno can give you absolutely everything you need for a great time in Llandudno – providing superior seafront accommodation, some seriously cute décor (think oldytimey but certainly not old and tatty) as well as an excellent restaurant, The Terrace, which provides some truly fine dining on Llandudno’s beautiful seafront.
